About Us

Laurie Learning offers affordable tutoring specializing in services that help children overcome dyslexia, dysgraphia, and challenges associated with ADHD in Metro Atlanta, Decatur, Dunwoody, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Stone Mountain, & Tucker.

Laurie Learning specializes in the Orton Gillingham approach, which has proven to be successful for dyslexic and non dyslexic students who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling.  OG is practiced as an approach, NOT a method program, system, or technique.

The Orton-Gilingham approach is described as language based, multi-sensory, structured, sequential, cumulative, cognitive and flexible.

The Orton Gillingham approach teaches the connections between letters and sounds using multi-sensory (sight, hearing, touch, and movement) techniques. These techniques help students make the connection between language, letters and words.

The Orton-Gillingham approach is focused on the individual learning needs of the student, designing a plan and pacing it according to their strengths and weaknesses. We incorporate fun ways to learn, as to create a fun, comfortable, safe environment so that our students can feel free to learn.

Laurie Learning also tutors students who have dysgraphia, or for children with handwriting challenges. We also offer math tutoring for elementary, middle and high school students.

Our experienced tutors have worked with students with many different learning styles and differences and can confidently work with your child's unique needs and learning-style.

Testimonials

"We began working with Ty in June and it has been a very positive and rewarding experience. Ty has worked with my son, who is age 10, in reading comprehension and writing. I was able to observe their interaction and was very impressed with the the depth and respect of the conversations they had together. My son was fully engaged and worked diligently under her guidance. My daughter has surface dyslexia and reading and writing are very challenging for her. I think you could say she finds both almost painful! Ty has showed the upmost patience and kindness towards my daughter, and has really earned her trust and respect. Over the past month, we have seen her really begin to push her self and have seen great strides in her reading fluency!

We feel very grateful to have found Ty as our tutor!
