Meet Ty Laurie
Ty Laurie is a literacy specialist, offering tutoring services using the Orton Gillingham approach. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Ty brings over 25 years of experience as a teacher, tutor, and educator. As a child, Ty was an avid reader, which catapulted her into a spelling bee championship at the elementary school she attended. This love for reading created a passion to help others discover the joy she felt for reading. She was introduced to Orton Gillingham, and knew that this was the path she would take to assist struggling readers in finding this excitement for reading. Ty has logged thousands of hours of tutoring using the OG approach while working for a tutoring company for several years. She used her experiences to start her own company, Laurie Learning LLC, after seeing the remarkable results of the Orton Gillingham approach.
Ty has completed the Associate Level coursework at The Schenck School in affiliation with the Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. She holds a B.A. from Brenau University, and is completing her graduate studies in Special Education.
